Jaguar Land Rover has unveiled the Jaguar XE Long-wheelbase (XEL), the second Jaguar vehicle to be manufactured in China, at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
As part of its RMB 10.9 billion joint venture with Chery Automobile Ltd, the Jaguar XEL will be manufactured at the state-of-the-art Changshu factory. Developed solely for the Chinese market the Jaguar is the fourth vehicle to be built at the company’s joint venture, in less than three years.

The all-new Jaguar XEL delivers great dynamics and peerless design of the standard XE with enhanced space, comfort, and state-of-the-art infotainment technology customers expect from a long-wheelbase Jaguar. With an additional 100mm wheelbase length, it is seamlessly integrated into the sleek design of the sports saloon, delivering even greater interior comfort.
Also showcased at the annual Guangzhou Motorshow will be the all-new Range Rover Sports PHEV; the company’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle delivering efficiency, capability, and performance like never before, XF Sportbrake and 18MY Range Rover will be on display at the Guangzhou Motorshow.
Jaguar Land Rover in China
Jaguar Land Rover has had a presence in China for over ten years and has a long-term commitment to its Chinese customers. With almost 120,000 vehicles sold in 2016, China is Jaguar Land Rover’s largest single market. It has more than 200 operational retailers and additional activities include 10 apprentice training programmes and three training academies as well as a Land Rover Experience Centre.
Demonstrating its commitment to the Chinese market, in the last six months, the company opened its first overseas engine plant in China as part of its RMB10.9 billion joint venture, manufacturing the all-new Ingenium 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine for future Chery Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. It has also confirmed that the all-new Jaguar E-PACE will be produced in China from 2018.
