FDCI ANNOUNCES THE SHOW SCHEDULE & LIST OF DESIGNERS PARTICIPATING IN THE 31st EDITION OF AIFW AW’18
The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) announced the show schedule and list of designers for the 31st Edition of the Amazon India Fashion Week in association with Nexa Autumn Winter 2018. The five-day event will be held from March 14-18 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
Almost 100 designers will present their ideas through the medium of ensembles on the runway and exhibit area, making it a memorable season.
From showcasing the power of handlooms to an ode to digital revolution, from taking a stroll down memory lane through retrospectives to introducing fresh formats — this year we will be homage to lots more.
Announcing the schedule, Sunil Sethi, President FDCI said, “We, at the FDCI, have always believed in introducing newer ideas to break free the monotony. Taking this spirit forward, every evening of Amazon India Fashion Week will have the vibrancy of a grand show, instead of just a last-day grand finale, in order to commemorate as many designers as possible and to celebrate inclusivity.”

Indie Eye to be launched in Milan in 2018
Indie Eye, a brand that explores the area of avant-garde eye-wear design in India, is a collaborative initiative by a designer, Tanira Sethi and an artist, Jayanta Roy, guided by a product development and design expert, Sunil Sethi.
The product line is uncontrolled by the set norms of fashion and seeks to redefine the ‘regular’. It is meant for free thinkers, people who believe in self-expression and have an ‘eye’ for individualistic fashion.
The project was conceived at the serendipitous meeting of the three creative minds at Jayanta’s art exhibit. Fascinated by the metaphoric take on eye-wear, two years hence, the brand is proposed to be launched in Milan in 2018. Indie Eye is currently designing unconventional, bespoke objects d’art on request.

NIDA MAHOOD Presents Collection at Amazon India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2018
The collection is a celebration of India and the Indian Woman. This collection is a collaboration between acclaimed designer Nida Mahmood and Active Lifestyle brand Deivee by Milind Soman.
The collection is made of four distinct lines representing a region of the country. The collection takes inspiration from the rich culture, colors, and textiles of the region.
Nida takes inspiration from the ageless art of Ikat for the collection celebrating East India. While the indigo dyeing and printing techniques charmed her to create the west collection. For the collection to celebrate North comes from the rich Banarasi brocades. She was drawn into the Mughal patterns of DELICATE FLOWERS AND LEAVES on DELICATE CREEPERS. FROM DOWN SOUTH WE WERE ENAMOURED BY THE UPPADA AND NARAYANPET SARIS. COLOR BLOCKING AND VARIOUS KINDS OF STRIPES FORM THE MAIN SOURCE OF INSPIRATION FOR THIS PART OF THE COLLECTION.
The silhouettes used in the collection is inspired by the women of India. Its designed to offer maximum comfort from the treadmill to the dance floor. Keeping the theme of inclusiveness and body positive imagery of brand Deivee the range is designed for #every-Body.
The highlight of the collection is that its completely made of 100% recycled plastic bottles. Its made with a quick dry technology and is anti-microbial too. This sustainable Athleisure range also has the first ever running sari. The Running Sari ensures the collection is suitable for all Indian women across shapes, sizes & sensibilities. This collection is a true celebration of India and the beautiful Indian woman.

Samant Chauhan presents The White Cancas at AMAZON INDIA FASHION WEEK SS’18
It was a bridge between Middle Ages and now, and a time when you had looked up at the sky and could never look away as Da Vinci said. A time of no binding compulsions and a time of overthrowing the status quo. It was the renaissance, the age of knowledge. And then, there were stories.
The light filtered and split by the magnificent broken glass windows I saw in Paris in a chapel on a cold January morning made me wonder about magic and truth, the crossover between the two and the eternal quest for beauty. Everything was chaos. They imagined a world with a prism. They wanted to understand darkness like Da Vinci who said the canvas should be painted dark because everything in the world is dark except when exposed to light. They wanted to tame light, to embolden it.
The writers and painters were tortured with this search for knowledge and yet, there was mystery and there was temptation like Dr. Faustus, immortalized by Goethe and then by the brilliant Christopher Marlowe. In the play of this renaissance era, Dr, Faustus, a man of science and logic, is tempted by Mephistopheles who asks for his soul to enlarge the kingdom of Lucifer. And yet, Mephistopheles had faith. The play defines the eternal dilemmas between faith and science.
Magic eludes us. Science informs us. As a designer, this confusion is my muse. The quest, an inspiration and a thirst for beauty. I seek that bridge between knowledge and magic. In the flowers that we have painted, I have created my own. Because that's what renaissance made you do - create and create boldly.
And then, there was art nouveau or the idea of total art. I saw it everywhere. Outside the Paris metro, on the buildings, etc. It was a liquid style, the flowers melting into ivory backgrounds and it was the art of thankfulness. And then you ask what is magic and logic and all the complexities of life against the simplicity of lines and muted colours of decorative arts. I liked the rebellion of the line and the art movement that dismissed the superiority of the liberal arts. Why does Paris look beautiful? Because it is total art.
This is an ode to the blank canvas, to total art, to free art you can see from the streets and the self-actualization and to all metaphors for life and light ~by ChinkiSinha
