Is that the Real Time Air Quality Index monitoring at Delhi - Asks B S Vohra, Environmental Activist

It has been observed that the Real Time Ambient Air Quality data, being shown by DPCC, on its website has some Technical flaws. On the Diwali night, our Team was keeping an eye on the figures of Air Quality Index and the outcome at a specific time was very Shocking and as below:

ITI Shahdara,  23.20pm,  PM10 NIL, PM2.5 NIL
Patparganj,  23.20pm,  PM10 NIL, PM2.5 NIL
Sriniwaspuri,   23.20pm,  PM10 NIL, PM2.5 NIL
Rohini,  23.15pm,  PM10 NIL, PM2.5 NIL
R K Puram, 23.20pm,  PM10 NIL, PM2.5 NIL
Mandir Marg, 23.20pm, PM10 NIL, PM2.5 317
JLN Stadium, 23.20pm, PM10 985, PM2.5 NIL
DITE Okhla, 23.20pm, PM10 NIL, PM2.5 NIL
Ashok Vihar, 23.10pm, PM10 NIL, PM2.5 NIL
DITE Wazirpur, 23.20pm,  PM10 NIL, PM2.5 NIL
IGI AirportNo Data at all - page not in operation
Civil LinesNo Data at all - page not in operation

It clearly shows, that out of the 18 stations, at least 12 critical points as above, were not showing any data, at a critical juncture, on the Diwali night, when Hon’ble SC had ordered a ban on the crackers, to analyse the impact of the ban on the levels of Pollution in Delhi.

DPCC must look into it very seriously & must take necessary steps to remove the technical problems if any, so that the clear figures could come out for making the serious policy decisions, in this most polluted city.

‘’The Daintree Rainforest – a worldwide treasure that needs to be protected at all costs.”

The Daintree Rainforest, a worldwide treasure that needs to be protected at all costs’’- David Attenborough
Eco Fashion Week Australia (EFWA) – Australia’s first international Eco-fashion week – is being held in Perth on the 23-27th of November. The event is committed to promoting sustainable fashion both in Australia and globally, and to working with established organizations to protect our environment and wildlife.

The world’s rainforests are disappearing rapidly, with 65.000 hectares cleared or significantly degraded every single day. Australia’s Daintree Rainforest is of international conservation importance and recognized as are the most regional ecosystem in the world. Planting rainforest trees will help to restore the rainforest and serve to protect its many species of plants and animals from extinction.

EFWA has committed to collaborate and support the efforts of Rainforest Rescue year-round by participating as a sponsor in their project, ‘Plant a Rainforest.” On the 5th of September, EFWA 2017 designers planted the event’s very first trees at Daintree in an area of the rainforest previously cleared for sugar cane production. EFWA2017 Eco designers were represented at this event by Queenslander locals who planted new trees on their behalf.

EFWA will be supporting Conservation work of Rainforest Rescue work with our tickets during the busy week.” – Dr. Zuhal Kuvan-Mills, CEO of EFWA and former Conservation, Environmental and Animal Science lecturer of UK.
In support of Rainforest Rescue’s efforts to safeguard, protect the biodiversity of our Daintree Rainforest in Queensland, and ensure its survival for future generations, EFWA will be donating $5.00 from every single ticket sold during Eco Fashion Week Australia 2017, a practice that will be continued each year.
EFWA places community, sustainability, and education at its core while promoting locally, ethically produced fashion, conservation, and sustainability education. The event will run from the 23rd – 27th of November 2017. The week will include fashion shows, free workshop, an Eco seminar series called Disposable Planet (to be held at Curtin University) and a and pop-up shop at the RSPCA’s Reloved boutique featuring Australian Designers with a percentage of sale donated to their programs.

Pollution : International Conference and Exhibition on Continuous Emissions Monitoring

Accepted the  invite to attend the 12th International Conference and Exhibition on the issue of Continuous Emissions Monitoring  at Delhi,  as since last many years, I am directly concerned with all such issues. You can take it as my Social responsibility or the Social cause that I have regularly raised  such issues. Had filed my very first RTI at that time when no one was talking about the issue & those RTIs were duly covered by Print media as well TV channels.

My idea to accept the three day conference was that it will give me much more knowledge on the subject and will add to my experience. So very eagerly and to increase my own awareness on the issue, I started attending the Conference. There were so many speakers to talk about various issues & mostly, all of them were from overseas countries. They presented their research papers in the conference & the audience, including myself, tried to understand them wholeheartedly.

Speakers included Mr. Robert Baxter from USA, Mr. Bernhard Thull from Germany, Mr. Rod Robinson from UK, Mr. Jerome Laplagne from France, Mr. Roland Zepeck from Austria, Mr. Koh Yee Tiong from Singapore, Dr Carlo Bruno from Italy, Ms. Tuula Pellikka from Finland, as well many know persons from CSR, CPCB & other connected fields.

During the conference, I got the opportunity to meet Mr. Erkki Lamminen from DEKATI, Finland who had exhibited  an  equipment to measure the SPM 2.5. Soon we became friendly and we went outside on the road, in the open, near the CBD Ground, Karkardooma, almost at a distance of one KM from the Anand Vihar, which can be said as the most polluted area in the National Capital.

On the very first day, we checked the Real Time status of the SPM 2.5 at around 11am in the morning. Though the Average was at around 60, the PEAKS were almost 3 to 4 times of the average at that minute. The cause of concern was that while we are at that location and while the peaks were up to 3 to 4 times, if we keep inhaling there, what will happen to our Lungs?

Next morning, we again checked the status at around same time & this time, SPM 2.5 was at almost 120, while the peaks were almost double. To my surprise, Mr Lamminen told me that it Finland, the maximum SPM 2.5 was only up to 10 or 20, and while in New Delhi, he was already inhaling at at almost 5 to 10 times, and was really worried about his health.

Surprising factor is that while Chicago University in its latest study has very clearly stated that if we could comply with the WHO standards of Air Quality at Delhi, the residents here can get a life of 9 more years. But seems, no one is concerned, no one is shattered as there is no hue and cry from any corner. Residents just view the news, read and forget, as there is no time to consider for an additional life of 6 to 9 years.

Say NO to 'Made in China' this Diwali !

While our soldiers have done a great Surgical Strike on the Pakistani Terrorists inside POK, can’t we, the residents of India, do an Economical Surgical strike on China by saying NO TO THE CHINESE GOODS at least till this Diwali. We are not against China, but we are absolutely against the Anti India policies of China. China must learn that if it wishes to sell and earn from the, larger Indian Market, it must stop favouring Pakistan with immediate effect.

Talk to AK : Arvind Kejriwal : Talk to RWAs of Delhi !

Dear Mr Arvind Kejriwal,

Before the Delhi Assembly Elections, you had made huge promises with the RWAs of Delhi on : 1. RWA ACT 2. EMPOWERMENT OF RWAs 3. STREAMLINING OF RWA FUNCTIONING etc. But once you won with a massive mandate, you sidelined the RWAs by introducing, Mohalla Sabha. Do you want us to believe / assume that you made all the Fake Promises with the RWAs of Delhi ?

Talk to Arvind Kejriwal  :
Talk to RWAs of Delhi

Please recall the meeting, you had with the RWAs of Delhi, before Elections, where you had announced the so called, "RWAs empowerment vision planas below :

"Quote Unquote "

1. At a conference attended by the representatives of over 700 RWAs across Delhiformer chief minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced the party’s stand of setting up a Citizens Local Area Development Fund after giving a legal sanctity to RWAs by passing a RWA Act in the state assembly.

2. Kejriwal announced that after being elected by the people in the long overdue assembly elections, the AAP government’s priority will be to empower the RWAs by creating a Citizens Local Area Development Fund in each assembly constituency of Delhi and this fund will be equal to that of the MLA Local Area Development Fund.

3. He proposed an amount of Rs four crore annually to allow the legally recognized the RWAs  to carry out their local development, repair and welfare works without any external interference, once the RWA Act will come into existence.

4. The AAP proposes to streamline the functioning of RWAs in consultation with them.

5. Kejriwal said the AAP stand was that there should be no scope for any external interference, including that of the MP or MLA, in the works that recognised RWAs can do with public consultation in their respective areas.

Sir,

Your party won with a massive mandate, but nothing of this sort is happening any where. No RWAs Act, No Empowerment of RWAs, No Streamlining of RWAs Functioninginstead, we the RWAs are being sidelined, by introducing your own Mohalla Sabha. Sir, why you are giving a wrong message to the RWA community of Delhi ?  Do you want us to believe / assume, that all the promises, that you made with the RWAs of Delhi, were FAKE ?

It was a real fun at the Mother Dairy Plant

We were invited by the Mother Dairy plant to see their way of working. We accepted the invitation and our team of almost 50 persons visited Mother Dairy plant at Delhi. It was a real fun. First of all they took us to the meeting room and explained us in depth about their products. We were also shown a documentary made by them. After that we were taken inside the plant to view the real working. They also exhibited us various tests to be performed for checking the purity of the product. After that we were offered Flavoured milk and Ice cream cones in different variants. It was a real fun and our entire team enjoyed the visit. The kids were more interested in the Flavoured milk & Ice cream though the elders learnt a lot about their products & the composition.
