Stalked, Trapped in Hotel: US Travel Blogger Narrates Delhi Ordeal

Just read about the harrowing experience faced by a US Travel Blogger, who was stalked & trapped in a Hotel at Delhi. “Men just randomly passing by reached out and grabbed me… they were touching me, groping me. This one guy kinda leaned in […] and he just said to me, ‘I want to f**k you’, right into my face, even with Livio right there,” she said.

Jordan recounts that the harassment peaked when her boyfriend, Livio, left four days before she was to leave India. By this time, Livio and Jordan had checked into the OYO rooms partnered hotel, identified as the OYO hotel on Main Bazaar Road, Paharganj, Delhi.

"From that very morning, they started acting completely different to me. At one point, one of them even followed me up the stairs. They called the room, and I know for a fact that it was hotel employees because this phone is only for hotel use […] and they said into the phone, ‘Heyyyy babyyyy!’ I hung up. They called the room again and it was just silent and not saying anything. […] The next day, they call the room, I pick up and they were just making sexual noises… breathing. There is no way that this was normal breathing into the phone,” Jordan narrates.

“I heard him flip it (the main switch) off. It was a very distinct sound. Immediately he knocks on my door and says, ‘Hello! The AC is broken. We need to come in and fix it. Open the door and we’ll come and fix the AC.’ And I just said no, I am not answering the door,” Jordan said.

“He was right outside my door. There were more people who came, I don’t know who. They would knock and say open the door. Then they shut off the WiFi and said the same story – that they need to come in and fix the WiFi,” Jordan shares.

After a few deep breaths and regaining her composure, she says that the harassment continued for a very long time, almost two days. “I would always see the shadows right underneath the door […] it would move away for a few minutes and they would come back. I knew they were always on the other side of the door. And this went on for two days,” she recounts, still rattled.

In my opinion, Indiblogger must come forward with a Strong team of Bloggers, in almost every part of the Country, who are willing and ready to help others in case of any such emergency. The name & contact numbers of the willing Bloggers must be uploaded & publicised worldwide to all the Blogging Platforms, for any help, while in India.

Stalked, Trapped in Hotel: US Travel Blogger Narrates Delhi Ordeal

“Men just randomly passing by reached out and grabbed me… they were touching me, groping me. This one guy kinda leaned in […] and he just said to me, ‘I want to f**k you’, right into my face, even with Livio right there.”

This was just one of the harrowing experiences that Jordan Taylor, an American travel blogger had, when she was recently visiting India. In a vlog she made about the visit, Jordan, who goes by the name ‘Travellight’ on social media, recounted the multiple instances she was sexually harassed while in the national capital New Delhi.
She was forced to confine herself to her room in a hotel when the staff allegedly started sexually harassing her and trying to get her to open the door. This place had apparently partnered with hotel aggregator OYO rooms, which has now taken action against the hotel.
Though the couple tried to make it appear as though Livio was still there, the hotel staff saw him leave for the airport early in the morning. What happened next was yet another example of how people continue to respect a man’s presence and claim over a woman above her own will. As soon as Livio left, the hotel staff’s behaviour changed towards Jordan, she says in the vlog.
“From that very morning they started acting completely different to me.
“It was extremely uncomfortable at that point,” she says.
Things took a turn for the worse two days before she was supposed to leave. Jordan was in her room when one of the men knocked and asked her to open the door. When she did not, he allegedly came back an hour later and banged something very hard on the door. But when Jordan still did not relent, someone allegedly turned off the AC from outside the room.
When they tried telling her the same thing over the phone, Jordan said she knew they had turned off the AC and it was not broken.
After this, they stopped knocking but Jordan says she could see shadows outside her door from the gap at the bottom.
“He was right outside my door. There were more people who came, I don’t know who. They would knock and say open the door. Then they shut off the WiFi and said the same story – that they need to come in and fix the WiFi,” Jordan shares.
“I knew that they were lying because the AC wasn’t broken. I just felt so certain that if I did open the door… then. Because they were so desperately trying with lies to get into my room… I did feel very certain that if I did, something very bad would happen. And I still think that it would have,” Jordan says. The trauma is clearly visible on her face at this point.
She ran out of water and could not go out to get food. “[I felt like] I am being hunted at the hotel I was staying,” she says.
“The best I can describe it is like I was in a horror movie. It’s in the place where you’re supposed to feel safe and you’re sleeping in your bed at night and you can’t even relax. You can never feel safe. There’s nowhere you can go, you’re trapped.”

Delhi Aajtak Conclave - Emerging Brands 2018

Aajtak & Delhi Aajtak had a Conclave of Emerging Brands 2018 at Taj Vivanta and I got the invite to participate in it. The hotel looked beautiful and the gathering was awesome.

So many CEOs of various top ranking brands were there explaining about their journey, i.e. how they started, and how they created the empire.

The event started with the emergence of Cabinet Minister Mr Babul Supriyo, and one after another, many top ranking brands were there, such as Baidyanath, Ananda, Mann Travels, Fixwell, Multani Kuka etc.

The last person to be present there was the Power minister of Delhi Mr Satyender Jain and I waited for him very anxiously as he was not responding to our certain various serious issues, concerning the Fixed charges of Electricity.

Being one of the Power Experts, my direct question to him was very serious and he tried his best to escape but he was forced to invite us to a meeting at 10 am the next morning. Anyhow, the issue will remain ON for a much longer time as he is in no position to answer our queries.

Please view my other stories on the same issue.

Thanks

Sikh - the community that is always ready to help others without any discrimination

Sikh - the most modern religion, that came into existence just 500 years ago, that has a population of less than 2% of the total Indian population, are the front-runners for any kind of help to any community, worldwide, without any discrimination.

Sikhs reached Kerala the minute news was spread about the devastating floods at Kerala. The local Gurudwara of Kochi helped the visitors, to organize the Langer ( Free Food ) for everyone.

A beautiful Turban on the head & a nice beard on the face gives a different look to the community & makes it easily identifiable in any part of the world. Even if standing amidst lacs of persons, you can easily identify a SIKH, due to the appearance.

Always ready to help others, this religion was formed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, while saving the Hindu religion from the Mughals, who were hell-bent to convert everyone into Islam. There were scores of Sacrifices by the Sikhs, to save the Hindu Dharma.

The same spirit exists even now. In the fight against the British, the maximum persons who were hanged were from the Sikh community. Even now the Indian Army has the largest number of Sikhs and even now, the community is always ready to help others, without any discrimination.

Lacs of devotees visit the Golden Temple every day & every one is served Guru Ka Langar (Free Food). The practice is visible in every part of the world & you can get the Free Food in any Sikh Temple, worldwide, be it Dubai, USA, UK, Germany, Canada or anywhere else. We too tried our best to send the relief material to the Kerala Bhawan in Delhi.

Thanks

Fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya's London mansion has a golden toilet: report

It is no mystery that fugitive liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who owes Indian banks around Rs 9,000 crore, loves a luxurious lifestyle. From splurging money on sports teams (Formula One, cricket, and football team) and his penchant for buying rare things like Mahatma Gandhi's glasses and Tipu Sultan's sword -- the King of Goods Times has done it all. Yet, there's one thing many people might not know about the once-called 'Richard Branson of India' -- he apparently owns a gold toilet. Yes, even after seeing his business turn upside down and the Indian authorities desperately pushing for his extradition, Mallya's London home has all the worldly luxurious things one can imagine, one of which is a golden toilet.

An ET report quoted author James Crabtree saying that once he got a unique opportunity to see Mallya's golden toilet during a visit to his house. James, who is also an associate professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School, said this at an event in Mumbai this week.
Revealing about his rendezvous with the absconding businessman, James said when he visited Mallya's mansion in Regent's Park, London, he found him in a pensive mood as he could not go to the Monaco Grand Prix. "He was contemplating the fact that he wasn't going to fly out to Monaco, but instead had to go to his other mansion and watch it on television like everyone else," said James. The writer elaborated that he saw something in shimmering gold as Mallya excused himself after taking in three shots of whiskey.
"Here I discovered this vision in shimmering gold. A gold toilet with a golden rim and gold on top. Sadly there was no golden toilet paper. But it did have monogrammed fluffy towels," the newspaper quoted the writer as saying.
Among other things, Mallya is accused of siphoning off a big chunk of Rs 6,027-crore loan he took from a consortium of 17 banks for his now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines to shell companies in seven countries, including the US, UK, France, and Ireland. While State Bank of India (SBI) had a maximum exposure of Rs 1,600 crore, other public-sector banks that gave loans to Kingfisher are Punjab National Bank with an exposure of Rs 800 crore, Bank of India (Rs 650 crore), Bank of Baroda (Rs 550 crore), Central Bank of India (Rs 410 crore), UCO Bank (Rs 320 crore), Corporation Bank (Rs 310 crore), State Bank of Mysore (Rs 150 crore), Indian Overseas Bank (Rs 140 crore).
