NYX Professional Makeup Partners with Samsung to Launch Innovative Virtual Reality Makeup Tutorial

NYX Professional Makeup and Samsung Electronics America, Inc. today announced the launch of an innovative virtual reality makeup tutorial, merging the world of beauty and technology like never before through Samsung Gear VR. The partnership allows both brands to push the boundaries of shopping at the intersection of beauty and technology.

The “Impossibly NYX Professional Makeup” experience, created in collaboration with VR production agency Cubicle Ninjas, leverages several key technologies, including light-field capture, to bring NYX Professional Makeup fans closer than ever to their brand ambassadors. The experience includes three visually stunning makeup tutorials lead by top beauty vloggers Kristen Leanne, Mykie (also known as “Glam & Gore”), and Karen Sarahii Gonzales. Consumers can use the Gear VR Controller to select products they would like to learn more information about, and at the end of the experience, users will receive a special offer to purchase the products featured in the tutorial at a special price.
“NYX Professional Makeup is a digitally-native brand with millions of followers across our global social media platforms,” said Mehdi Mehdi, VP of Digital at NYX Professional Makeup. “We aim to seamlessly incorporate digital into everything we do and see virtual reality as the new frontier in the beauty industry. Our community is passionate about their connection to beauty influencers, and Samsung’s Gear VR technology provides our customers with a level of immersion and proximity to their favorite beauty vloggers that they’ve never experienced before. We are thrilled to continue to push the envelope using cutting-edge technology, and are ecstatic to partner with a best-in-class company like Samsung.”
Rachel Weiss, VP of Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship at L’Oreal USA – the parent company of NYX Professional Makeup – was instrumental in helping shape the experience, as well as facilitating the partnership with Samsung. Weiss added, “The retail landscape is rapidly evolving, and we’re evolving with it. We have been reinventing the future of beauty services for years, and we see this partnership as the natural evolution of that. Through VR, we’re creating more dynamic, personalized experiences that add value for our customers in a new and personalized way.”
The “Impossibly NYX Professional Makeup” Gear VR experience will be available in select NYX Professional Makeup stores on December 18, 2017, followed by a nationwide rollout across the brand’s 42 retail stores over the course of 2018.
“Technology is changing the way we live our lives: people and brands are experimenting and accomplishing things in ways we never thought possible, in part due to immersive, accessible technologies like Gear VR,” said Marc Mathieu, Chief Marketing Officer at Samsung Electronics America. “Together with L’Oréal and NYX Professional Makeup, we are transforming the beauty retail experience with virtual reality and reinventing how brands connect with their consumers.”

Shivan and Narresh Presents Araki Series at AIFW SS’ 18 in association with Nexa

The elaborate work of genius Japanese contemporary photographer, Nobuyoshi Araki and his provocative imagery underlining the notion of human desire serve as the compelling starting point for the new SHIVAN & NARESH series. The collection embraces and interprets Araki’s affinity for lush flower arrangements via prints boasting of forest sights, lined with vibrant flora brought together by a palette steeped in the colors of Japan. The fabrics of the season are finished with luxurious Italian Crepe Jersey and thick knits with rich botanical prints and lustrous embellishments. Detailed Skein motifs flirting with crystals lend a new dimension to the abstraction, making the collection a luxurious addition to one’s destination wedding wardrobe.

Samant Chauhan presents The White Cancas at AMAZON INDIA FASHION WEEK SS’18

It was a bridge between Middle Ages and now, and a time when you had looked up at the sky and could never look away as Da Vinci said. A time of no binding compulsions and a time of overthrowing the status quo. It was the renaissance, the age of knowledge. And then, there were stories.

The light filtered and split by the magnificent broken glass windows I saw in Paris in a chapel on a cold January morning made me wonder about magic and truth, the crossover between the two and the eternal quest for beauty. Everything was chaos. They imagined a world with a prism. They wanted to understand darkness like Da Vinci who said the canvas should be painted dark because everything in the world is dark except when exposed to light. They wanted to tame light, to embolden it.

The writers and painters were tortured with this search for knowledge and yet, there was mystery and there was temptation like Dr. Faustus, immortalized by Goethe and then by the brilliant Christopher Marlowe. In the play of this renaissance era, Dr, Faustus, a man of science and logic, is tempted by Mephistopheles who asks for his soul to enlarge the kingdom of Lucifer. And yet, Mephistopheles had faith. The play defines the eternal dilemmas between faith and science.

Magic eludes us. Science informs us. As a designer, this confusion is my muse. The quest, an inspiration and a thirst for beauty. I seek that bridge between knowledge and magic. In the flowers that we have painted, I have created my own. Because that's what renaissance made you do - create and create boldly.

And then, there was art nouveau or the idea of total art. I saw it everywhere. Outside the Paris metro, on the buildings, etc. It was a liquid style, the flowers melting into ivory backgrounds and it was the art of thankfulness. And then you ask what is magic and logic and all the complexities of life against the simplicity of lines and muted colours of decorative arts. I liked the rebellion of the line and the art movement that dismissed the superiority of the liberal arts. Why does Paris look beautiful? Because it is total art.

This is an ode to the blank canvas, to total art, to free art you can see from the streets and the self-actualization and to all metaphors for life and light ~by ChinkiSinha

JJ Valaya presents collection of classics at Amazon India fashion week SS'18

The show at the FDCI Amazon India Fashion Week, in association with Nexa, is not a Couture or Bridal show, but a celebration marking JJ Valaya’s completion of a quarter of a century in the wonderful world of style and fashion. On this momentous occasion JJ Valaya presents, a line of occasion-wear ensembles based on three of the all-time favorite inspirations; ones that shall now be known as THE CLASSICS OF JJ VALAYA:

 1. GULISTAN: A gentle homage to nature… A line of sinuous silhouettes... signature prints and antique embroideries interpret a personal favorite of JJ Valaya…Flowers.

2. JAMAVAR: A much-celebrated inspiration and a constant fascination, this line works the magic of the Indian paisleys and the intricacies of the Jamavar, motifs in a modern interpretation.

3. PUNJAB: A humble tribute to our roots, this year's interpretation stands inspired by the court dressing of the Maharajas of Kapurthala.

These 3 Valaya staples will hereafter co-exist as perennials along with our seasonal collections, both as Couture and as Occasion wear, albeit, with a new twist year after year.
