This is how Delhi is the Most Polluted City

This is how Delhi is the Most Polluted City. In spite of the orders of the NGT and various Pollution control bodies such as CPCB & DPCC, nothing can be controlled until n unless we take it as our Citizen Responsibility, Duty & Responsibility to come forward to Save the City from the clutches of Pollution.

B S Vohra - an Environment Activist of Delhi

It started with various Published RTIs, various awareness camps, various conferences, various media coverages, and the journey is still ON with no end visible anywhere. WHO says over 30,000 persons are killed every year just due to the pollution. UNICEF says that brains of our kids are shrinking due to the pollution. Chicago University says residents of Delhi & NCR are losing 6 to 9 years of their life due to pollution. But no constructive steps visible anywhere. We the residents have to come forward to raise our huge voice, otherwise, Delhi will soon be a thing of the past.  Who will vouch for the Most polluted, most congested, city that faces Traffic jams, encroachment, potholes, waterlogging, sanitation strikes and a whole lot of nightmares, at almost every corner?

You can contact Mr. B S Vohra, Environment Activist, President, East Delhi RWAs Joint Front - Federation, on his Email ID:  rwabhagidari@yahoo.in  Being the president of the RWAs Federation, he is also very active on all kind of issues concerning the masses.

Pollution Control Equipment being installed at Krishna nagar

In a war against Pollution and to give clean air to the residents, East Delhi RWAs Joint Front has arranged an open-air Pollution control equipment that SUCKS the Air from a radius of 60Ft, FILTERS  the pollutants such as PM10 as well PM2.5 and DISPERSES the clean air, as a relief to the Lungs of the people.

It is a Patented product with a Calibrated motor that costs very little so far as the power consumption is concerned.

"To offer clean air to the residents is a True Sewa today, and that too in a city where over 30 thousand persons are killed every year just due to the pollution”, said B S Vohra, President of the East Delhi RWAs Joint Front – Federation.

The equipment is being installed absolutely Free of cost & the cost of the Equipment & its maintenance will be covered by way of the Advertisements on the Equipment.

Therefore, if you too (RWAs, MTAs) require it Free of Cost, please feel free to Email us, and if approved (as the Advertisers require a space with maximum footfall), you too may get it absolutely Free.

Pollution related - If they don't do anything, can we remain the silent spectators?

Yeah, that's the CRUX. They have everything on the table, but they are not willing to do anything. Vehicular emissions & the encroachment increasing day by day, causing severe traffic jam all over, causing pollution & the main source of NO2, SO2, Benzene as well as the PM 2.5, but none there to come forward to control it.

WHO says, that over 30,000 persons are killed every year in Delhi & NCR due to pollution. Chicago University says that the residents of Delhi & NCR are losing up to 6 to 9 years of their life due to Pollution.CSE says that every 3rd child in Delhi has the Lungs problem. UNICEF says that pollution is having a very bad impact on the brains of our children.

We are shouting but on the Social media, WhatsApp and no more.

My QUESTION is, if they don't come forward or if they don't do anything, can we remain the silent spectators?

Heaters to the Chowkidars !

DPCC’s Bizarre Diktat ....... RWAs should provide Heaters for all the Guards on Night Duty

Strange is the thinking and working of our Government Departments when it suits them they issue Bizarre Diktats to RWA’s ....... What Statutory Powers has Govt given to RWAs, that Govt agencies come up with such diktats ?????  When it comes to giving Recognition to RWA’s, the Government is Evasive and Reluctant. RWA’s cannot mandatorily collect Membership Subscription or censure a Department for dereliction of Duty and so much is expected of them.

The idea was proposed by Mr. Bhurelal of EPCA, yes the same gentleman who proposed raising Parking Fees to Rs. 80/- per hour and the imposition of ODD/Even ...... Punishing Delhites for Pollution spread due to the Neighbouring States Burning Stubble and the Desert Storm in the Gulf.

In a recent proposal for Controlling Pollution, DPCC has issued a Public Notice for RWAs to provide Electric Heaters to Colony Guards. RWA’s are not heartless and have provided proper Winter Uniforms and made arrangements for making tea, so the Guards stay alert. The idea is impractical, both financially and logistically, as each Block or Colony employs 5 – 10 Guards.

The Question is, why RWA’s should take on the extra burden, as it is, they are doing their bit with meager resources. It is not the job of RWAs to provide security, it’s the Police that has to ensure Security. The Guards are allocated beats, are not stationary in one spot and supposed to be moving. Some guards are stationed at the gates, they too need to stay alert,  the comfort of a heater will lull them into sleep and frequent gasht (beat) will be detrimental to their health.

If pollution is the Govts concern and is serious about it, then all the arms of Govt should perform their respective duties...  THEN THERE SHALL BE NO NEED FOR SUCH SILLY PUBLIC NOTICES. And pray, who shall foot the Power Bills and who in DPCC would conduct Night Vigils to check small fires being lit by Labour at construction sites and the Homeless to stay warm ?????

Warm Regards,
Rajiv Kakria

Heaters to Chowkidars !

RWAs are required to provide Heaters to the Chowkidars and the COMPLIANCE of the RWAs has been ordered.

No doubt, it's our responsibility too, to check & curb the Pollution, though we have no power in our hand as none of the Governments have ever empowered us in any way. But the truth is that the real problem lies somewhere else:

1. There is no check on the rising number of vehicles in Delhi. Over a crore of vehicles already on the road, with Lakhs being added every year causing severe vehicular emissions, contributing significantly to the pollution in the city, as well as to the kitty of the Authorities.

2. There is massive encroachment everywhere on the Roads, that causes severe Traffic jams, again causing severe pollution all over the city.

3. Various Land Fill sites of Delhi always keep on smoking & catching fire due to methane gas inside, without any check & control from the concerned agencies.

4. Parali is burnt in Haryana & Punjab, contributing significantly to the pollution levels of Delhi, while Elected Leaders are unable to break the ice among themselves, even on this very serious issue.

5. The West Asian winds bring the Dust n Storm, causing severe pollution & Smog in Delhi, while the concerned authorities are not even able to clean the city properly.

6. WHO says that over 30,000 persons are killed every year in Delhi & NCR, due to the pollution or in our opinion, due to the non-action of the Authorities.

7. There is none to listen to the Chicago University Study, that says, that the residents of Delhi & NCR are losing up to 6 to 9 years of their life, just due to the pollution.

8. RWAs are not empowered to do anything, and those empowered, don't try to do anything.

9. RWAs don't have the funds and in most of the cases, RWAs are unable to collect the required money to pay to the Chowkidars, in the absence of any empowerment.

So in the present context, if your RWA has the funds, please follow the instructions of the concerned authorities.

In the absence of the required Funds, the only other option RWAs have, is to remove all the Chowkidars from their duties as it's the duty of the Government to provide us Security as well as the clean environment.

Thanks, & with best regards,

B S Vohra
Environment Activist - with a request to all the RWAs of Delhi, to check any burning of Garbage, Leaves, Wood, Biomass, Coal etc. in their localities as well to provide your old warm clothes to those in need, to combat pollution. EPCA is doing a great Job after the implementation of GRAP and we must prove that we are also the responsible RWAs of this city, without any empowerment.

Breathe Happiness with Samsung’s new Air Purifier

Samsung India, country’s most trusted consumer electronics brand, announced the launch of its premium Air Purifier today. Samsung’s Air Purifier, AX7000, provides faster purification through advanced PM2.5 filters. PM2.5 filter is a mechanical air filter that works by forcing air through a fine mesh and traps harmful particles in the air.

Available for INR 41,990, the new flagship AX7000 gives faster air purification with higher Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) and covers a large area with the three way air flow. The Digital Invertor Motor ensures durability and long-term energy efficiency to the consumers. The four-step air filtration provides double protection and results in a fresh and pollution-free air.

“At Samsung, we listen to consumers and deliver meaningful innovations to make their lives better. Samsung range of air purifiers, with cutting edge technology and design excellence, will protect consumers from indoor pollution and help them adopt a healthier lifestyle,” said Mr. Rajeev Bhutani, Vice President, Consumer Electronics Business, Samsung India.

“The indoor allergens and irritants pose greater danger today because we are spending more time indoors due to rise in pollution level outside. As modern homes are airtight, these irritants can’t easily escape and demand an advanced purification process. Samsung air purifiers are designed to combat indoor pollution in the most effective way with the least power consumption,” he added.

Powerful Air Purifying

AX7000 purifies the air faster with a CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) of 773m3/h and covers a wider area of 93m2 through its front air inflow, dual fan and three way air flow technology. The Dual Power Fans, which can be operated together as per the convenience, with the 4 step filtration system, powerfully purifies the air. The 3 way Air Flow ensures faster distribution of the clean air.

Intensive Purification with Low Energy Use

AX7000 is equipped with the outstanding filter that traps 99% of PM2.5 (ultra-fine dust). Powered by a Digital Inverter Motor, it ensures durability and long-term energy efficiency.

Air Quality Indicator with Intuitive Display

AX7000 comes with a digital indicator and various colour lights that shows the pollution drop on a real time basis and the 3 sensors give an exact numeric measurement of the PM2.5 (ultra-fine dust) and PM10 (fine dust) levels.

Space Efficient and Easy Maintenance

AX7000 is so slim that it fits anywhere. It also has a front–sided air inlet, hence there is no need to move or pull it away from the wall. It can easily be cleaned or changed by opening the door on the front.

With the launch of AX7000, Samsung also offers AX3000. Both products are available across leading offline and online stores. AX3000 is available for INR 15,490.

Live demo of Samsung Air Purifiers have been arranged across Delhi/ NCR at popular locations such as Select City Mall in Saket, Mall of India in Noida, and Cyber Hub & Galleria Market in Gurgaon for consumers to experience the efficiency and effectiveness of Samsung Air Purifiers.

A drive against pollution in Delhi NCR !

In a Drive against pollution, the residents, RWAs, MTAs, NGOs, as well as the Activists, have been invited to join a Non-Political Forum, to generate awareness as well to talk to the agencies to take necessary steps. The problem of various RWAs as well the Activists is that they are not empowered to do anything. They can just raise their voice at various forums, though the official & concerned agencies, don't take them seriously. Now a bigger forum is being launched with the sole aim that our voice is heard and we can also put our pressure on various agencies, to take necessary steps to curb the pollution that is responsible for over 30,000 deaths in DELHI NCR alone, every year.

Pollution : International Conference and Exhibition on Continuous Emissions Monitoring

Accepted the  invite to attend the 12th International Conference and Exhibition on the issue of Continuous Emissions Monitoring  at Delhi,  as since last many years, I am directly concerned with all such issues. You can take it as my Social responsibility or the Social cause that I have regularly raised  such issues. Had filed my very first RTI at that time when no one was talking about the issue & those RTIs were duly covered by Print media as well TV channels.

My idea to accept the three day conference was that it will give me much more knowledge on the subject and will add to my experience. So very eagerly and to increase my own awareness on the issue, I started attending the Conference. There were so many speakers to talk about various issues & mostly, all of them were from overseas countries. They presented their research papers in the conference & the audience, including myself, tried to understand them wholeheartedly.

Speakers included Mr. Robert Baxter from USA, Mr. Bernhard Thull from Germany, Mr. Rod Robinson from UK, Mr. Jerome Laplagne from France, Mr. Roland Zepeck from Austria, Mr. Koh Yee Tiong from Singapore, Dr Carlo Bruno from Italy, Ms. Tuula Pellikka from Finland, as well many know persons from CSR, CPCB & other connected fields.

During the conference, I got the opportunity to meet Mr. Erkki Lamminen from DEKATI, Finland who had exhibited  an  equipment to measure the SPM 2.5. Soon we became friendly and we went outside on the road, in the open, near the CBD Ground, Karkardooma, almost at a distance of one KM from the Anand Vihar, which can be said as the most polluted area in the National Capital.

On the very first day, we checked the Real Time status of the SPM 2.5 at around 11am in the morning. Though the Average was at around 60, the PEAKS were almost 3 to 4 times of the average at that minute. The cause of concern was that while we are at that location and while the peaks were up to 3 to 4 times, if we keep inhaling there, what will happen to our Lungs?

Next morning, we again checked the status at around same time & this time, SPM 2.5 was at almost 120, while the peaks were almost double. To my surprise, Mr Lamminen told me that it Finland, the maximum SPM 2.5 was only up to 10 or 20, and while in New Delhi, he was already inhaling at at almost 5 to 10 times, and was really worried about his health.

Surprising factor is that while Chicago University in its latest study has very clearly stated that if we could comply with the WHO standards of Air Quality at Delhi, the residents here can get a life of 9 more years. But seems, no one is concerned, no one is shattered as there is no hue and cry from any corner. Residents just view the news, read and forget, as there is no time to consider for an additional life of 6 to 9 years.
