A proud environment-friendly Vodafone family of Delhi

When I was of the age of my daughter now, the life was quite different. We had not even heard about Mobiles or Internet. There was no Social media or any digital world. There were no Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin or even Google & Yahoo. The only connectivity was through a Landline connection, but it was too difficult to get it. There was a waiting period of over 10 years for a landline connection. For making an STD call, we had to book it and it usually took half an hour or more to get the call connected. Making a payment was a big headache as there were very few spots to make the payment and we had to stand in queue for hours to make the payment. The Lineman used to dictate his terms of continuous connectivity and we were forced to offer him Money as well cold drinks for little favors, almost every month.

Things started changing and slowly but steadily, we reached to an era of mobile phones with so many service providers offering connectivity, Internet, Data plans and a lot more, at very high costs,  with the 24x7 helpline as well online payment possibilities. But it was the era of Call drops and 2G/3G  connectivity. For making a single call, there used to be many call drops, with no incoming voice or no outgoing noise. Signals were too weak to keep you in touch all the time. Internet speed was too slow to do anything while on the move. To overcome the problem, our Government introduced the Portability scheme, where consumers were allowed to shift to the better service provider while keeping the same number.

Things have changed drastically in the last 30 years and we are now Live on various Social media platforms, interacting with those, whom we don’t even know personally. Now I and my daughter have the best Smartphone, best Internet connectivity, best social media network, best call connectivity, with online payment facilities, 24x7 helpline and a lot more. And this has become true, with the best service provider of India, i.e. Vodafone.  Yeah, Vodafone has the best connectivity & the best network in India now, and I can proudly call ourselves as the Vodafone family, as all of the mobile numbers we have in our family, belong to Vodafone. It is working perfectly in our locality or wherever we go and is the most reliable network.

Moreover, Vodafone is also helping the startups. It digitally connected Delhi & NCR by over 120 Free WI-Fi hotspot zones where you can use Free WI-Fi for 20 minutes, even though you are not a Vodafone customer. Vodafone has also created two Airs-Purifying bus shelters at Delhi & Gurugram. Vodafone is also urging the residents of Delhi & NCR to celebrate a Green Diwali by using the Super crackers being offered by it. To the utmost surprise of one & all, these super crackers have been filled with the Eco-friendly plant seeds to make the Delhi & NCR much greener. Probably that’s the spirit & enthusiasm of Vodafone to serve the customers, that has made it a choice of over 1.2 crore customers in Delhi & NCR.

Feeling proud that we belong to the Vodafone family of Delhi & NCR and enjoying the best of the services, ever provided by any service provider in India. We are now going to our nearest Vodafone store to get our personalized GIF as well the Super crackers to enjoy the festival of Diwali. Best wishes to the entire Vodafone family of Delhi & NCR for a very Happy Diwali & a prosperous New year ahead. Please log on to https://www.vodafone.in/home-delhi

Introducing Samsung Connect Tag, a New Way to Keep Track of All That Matters in Life

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. is launching the Samsung Connect Tag* – a new way to keep track of the loved ones, valuables and all the matters in life. The Samsung Connect Tag is the world’s first consumer mobile product to use narrowband network technology (NB-IoT, Cat.M1), a specially designed cellular communication standard for small data utilization, low power consumption and the ability to securely connect to the internet for optimal location services. The Samsung Connect Tag offers smart location notifications based on an NB-IoT or Cat.M1 network, leveraging full internet services to identify location information for increased family security and peace of mind.
The Samsung Connect Tag will work with GPS, Wi-Fi-based positioning (WPS) and Cell ID so it can receive accurate location information both indoors and outdoors for effortless location tracking. It can be attached to a young child’s backpack so his or her whereabouts can be tracked, clipped to a dog’s collar so it won’t go missing, and secured the keys so they are never lost. These tracking and notification abilities will minimize anxiety about the user’s favorite items or loved ones, offering an exciting way to use technology for increased family security and an enhanced lifestyle.
Furthering Samsung’s commitment to a seamless IoT experience across devices, the Samsung Connect Tag will be tied to the SmartThings ecosystem, working in conjunction with the user’s smart home appliances through Works with SmartThings. The geo-fence feature on the Samsung Connect Tag will notify the user’s chosen smart devices when he or she approaches – so if the user wants lights and TV to turn on while getting home from a nightly run, the Samsung Connect Tag can trigger these products as the user enters the pre-defined zone, so the user will get a notification when the child enters the schoolyard or a dog jumps the backyard fence.
The Samsung Connect Tag also offers several key features to minimize anxiety and increase usability. If the user loses a car in a large outdoor parking lot, the on-demand function will allow requesting any Connect Tag’s location when desired, simply by pressing a button on the smartphone.
The Send my location function will send their current location to their guardian, so even a young child can let you know exactly where he or she is and can go pick him/her up safely. Additionally, periodic location notifications will show a trace the loved one's location record.
Connect Tag features a compact size, measuring just 4.21 centimeters wide and 1.19 centimeters thick, as well as IP68 water and dustproof rating for durability. The battery can last for up to seven days on a single charge, minimizing the need to constantly swap out or plug in the device. Connect Tag comes with an exclusive ring that easily attaches to bags, collars or key rings.
Connect Tag will be showcased at the Samsung Developer Conference 2017 on October 18-19 at Moscone Center in San Francisco, California, United States. It will be available for purchase starting in Korea before expanding to select countries in the coming months.

Hyundai i30 N TCR shines in China

Hyundai Motorsport’s first circuit racer takes the maiden win. The pace of the Hyundai i30 N TCR stood out on its debut in the TCR International Series at the Zhejiang Circuit in China. The Hyundai Motorsport built car set the fastest time in three of the weekend’s sessions, with Gabriele Tarquini charging through the field in the opening race to give the i30 N TCR a maiden victory.

The weekend was a key opportunity to showcase the performance of the car against the TCR designs offered by other manufacturers. The Zhejiang Circuit, however, presented a new challenge for the team and drivers, the twisting technical layout unlike anywhere the i30 N TCR had tested.

Despite this, Tarquini and Alain Menu produced the two fastest times in qualifying, the i30 N TCR the only car capable of lapping the 3.2km circuit in under 1:33. Tarquini’s best stopped the clock at 1:32.935, but Menu’s session leading time of 1:32.811 was nearly half a second faster than the next best manufacturer in the field.

Unfortunately, due to the temporary homologation that was given to the i30 N TCR for the event, both drivers were ineligible to claim their place in the second part of qualifying, and so were forced to start both of the races from 13th and 14th positions on a circuit where overtaking was expected to be difficult.

Even from this lowly position the speed and handling of the car shone through as Tarquini was able to make his way up the order to take the lead just after halfway through the 19 lap race. He took a sensational win following his development since the i30 N TCR’s first test in April. Menu followed his march up the order through the early part of the race, reaching the top 6 before being penalized for his role in some start line contact. The car undamaged, he finished in 12th position.

Such was the superb pace of the i30 N TCR that the series organizers altered the Balance of Performance (BoP) in the hour following Tarquini’s victory. For the second race both cars were made to run with an almost unprecedented 40kg of additional weight, as well having the engine power turned down.

Still, though both drivers were able to make clean overtakes all around the lap, with Menu and Tarquini moving up to fourth and sixth respectively by the chequered flag.

Gabriele Tarquini said: “This has been an almost perfect weekend for me, and for the team behind the i30 N TCR. We showed we have developed a very strong package for the TCR regulations. Starting from 14th, we did not expect to be able to fight for the victory, especially on such a tough circuit. I had a really good first lap, and was able to take advantage of the good brakes and handling of the car to make the most of the pace of the i30 N TCR.”

Alain Menu said: “The i30 N TCR has really impressed me this weekend. With the Zhejiang Circuit being so different to the circuits in Europe where we have tested we didn’t know what to expect. However, from the very first lap the i30 N TCR has proven to be a good handling car around the slow-speed corners, as well as the faster sections of the circuit. It was instantly a very comfortable, easy car to drive on the limit, which is exactly what is required for a Customer Racing project.”

Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing manager Andrea Adamo said: “We hit all the targets that we set this weekend for the i30 N TCR. We came here to show the competitiveness of the car against the others in the TCR International Series, and with our pace, throughout the weekend we have definitively shown the strength of our car in the series. Our performance and reliability here show that the i30 N TCR is strong not only on fast, flowing tracks but also on tighter, more technical layout. Our customers should be able to take their new car to any circuit, in any series and be able to fight at the front.”

The i30 N TCR will return to the TCR International Series for the championship’s final weekend in Dubai on November 17-18.

Indie Eye to be launched in Milan in 2018

Indie Eye, a brand that explores the area of avant-garde eye-wear design in India, is a collaborative initiative by a designer, Tanira Sethi and an artist, Jayanta Roy, guided by a product development and design expert, Sunil Sethi.

The product line is uncontrolled by the set norms of fashion and seeks to redefine the ‘regular’. It is meant for free thinkers, people who believe in self-expression and have an ‘eye’ for individualistic fashion.

The project was conceived at the serendipitous meeting of the three creative minds at Jayanta’s art exhibit. Fascinated by the metaphoric take on eye-wear, two years hence, the brand is proposed to be launched in Milan in 2018. Indie Eye is currently designing unconventional, bespoke objects d’art on request.

An Inside Look at the Planning of the Galaxy Note8

With the Galaxy Note8, users get a bigger Infinity Display, the S Pen to communicate in more personal ways, and Samsung’s best-ever smartphone camera to capture stunning photos. It’s a device that’s truly designed for the way consumers lead their lives and lean on technology today.

But what exactly does it take to plan a product like Samsung’s latest smartphone? BJ Kang and Cue Kim, of Samsung Electronics’ Global Product Planning Group, Mobile Communications Business, sat down with Samsung Newsroom to explain.

Q. Was the planning process for the Galaxy Note8 different from those of previous products?

Kang: Following the Galaxy Note7 incident, Samsung Mobile Communications Business, which had been moving forward so quickly, had the chance to reflect on the core benefits that Note users require of their device. When the time came to design the next model, we made it our priority to reward our loyal users with our most innovative Note yet.

Therefore, the product planning process for the Galaxy Note8 was far more intense than ever before. We also extended the assessment period to ensure maximum safety, and our designated task force carefully evaluated the product by means of the 8-Point Battery Safety Check.

Q. Did you also prioritize that approach – contemplating core benefits – when determining the Galaxy Note8’s new features?

Kim: Absolutely. Whereas before, we took a more ‘big picture’ approach when considering which features to add or innovations to apply, with the Galaxy Note8, we really wanted to hone in on the needs of our users.

To help ensure that consumers are getting what they want from their smartphone, Samsung utilizes qualitative and quantitative research methods such as surveys and interviews to better understand how Note users use their device and what they want from it. For the Galaxy Note8, we decided to focus on enhancing the camera, the S Pen, and the large display because of our research, going back to the release of the first Note, in 2011, has consistently indicated that these are the features that users love the most.

Q. What is the most important thing to consider when choosing new features to add to a Note device?

Kang: Our top priority is the needs of the consumer. We generally develop and refine a new technology over the course of a few years before implementing it into a product. During that time, we closely observe consumer needs and consider whether or not the new technology is capable of meeting them. When the timing is right, we apply the technology.

Take the Note8’s dual camera as an example. We’ve been developing this technology for quite some time, refining features like Live focus, which lets you snap beautiful bokeh shots that make your subject stand out, and Dual Capture, which simultaneously captures your subject and its surroundings in a separate image. Of course, fundamentally, a dual camera should not only offer crisp close-up images but steady ones as well, which is why we placed particular emphasis on incorporating seamless optical image stabilization (OIS) technology into both cameras.

By the time we’d advanced this technology to a point where it met our stringent standards, the timing was perfect to add it to the Galaxy Note8.

Q. Who are your target consumers?

Kim: When we originally launched the Galaxy Note series, we had a feeling that business professionals would love it. More recently, the devices’ primary user group has expanded to include just about anyone who values productivity, entertainment, and creativity. Millennials, in particular are drawn to the Note, as they enjoy its communication customization tools and high-performance camera.

Q. In your opinion, which features make the Note popular with business professionals?

Kang: Many of the features of the Galaxy Note8 are useful for business professionals! For instance, the Note’s large display enhances productivity and multitasking, while the new App Pair feature lets users launch two designated apps at once from a single icon. We’ve noticed that these users tend to love the Screen off memo feature the most. This allows them to scribble down up to 100 editable pages of meeting minutes or lecture notes right onto the screen, even when it’s off.

Q. Samsung Note users are known to be particularly loyal to the brand. How have they responded to the Galaxy Note8?

Kim: We already knew that the Note series had a loyal fan base, but the initial reactions to the Galaxy Note8, which was even stronger than those of the Galaxy Note7, made that fact even clearer.

Samsung actually invited a number of Note users to the Galaxy Note8 launch event in New York in August, which was essentially dedicated to the loyal fanbase. For me personally, it was extremely touching and motivating to see how passionate Note users are about the product. I was so happy to see that all of the hard work we had put into planning a product that Note users would love had paid off.

Q. What’s next for the Note series’ planning team?

Kang: Usually, when one project comes to an end, we have a small break before moving on to the next. But this time, we’re not taking any breaks, even though the Galaxy Note8 product planning process was so challenging.

We are already considering how to approach the development of the next Note by evaluating the latest model and looking for ways to improve upon signature features like the S Pen. We will continue to keep users’ needs as our number one priority and will innovate accordingly.
